Let's talk

User research & experience design studio

From idea to use.

We design, build and launch web and mobile products, starting from user research rather than from a mockup.

Four interlocking isometric workspaces: research, design, development and testing.

Research · Design · Development · Testing

A product does not exist until someone uses it.

Many teams ship features. Few check that anyone understands them. We work the other way round: we start by watching the people the product is meant for, and let what we learn decide what gets built.

In practice, we take a project from nothing and carry it through to real users: interviews, information architecture, mockups, code, launch, then test sessions that call all of it back into question. One team, from the first notebook to the live product.

The right question is not “does it work?” but “can anyone actually do it?”

What we do

Five disciplines, one team.

Two people in front of a wall of sticky notes, grouping observations.

UX Research

Before opening a design tool, we go and meet people. Interviews, observation on site, analysis of existing journeys, card sorting: we look for what your users are actually trying to do, and what stops them today.

The result is not a report that sleeps in a drawer, but a handful of supported decisions: what gets built, what gets dropped, and why.

  • User interviews and written findings
  • Personas and target journeys
  • Usability audit of the existing product
  • Site structure and information architecture

UX/UI Design

From low-fidelity mockups we throw away without regret, through to a finished interface and a coherent component system. We design to be understood, not to win prizes: clear hierarchy, compliant contrast, generous tap targets, error states that were thought about.

Accessibility is not an option added at the end. It is part of the mockup, in the same way colour is.

  • Wireframes and clickable prototypes
  • Finished interface, mobile first
  • Design system and component library
  • RGAA / WCAG AA compliance

Web & mobile development

We write the product. Web app, mobile app, back office, API: code your own teams can pick up, tested and documented, with no debt hidden behind a demo that runs well.

Performance is a usability requirement before it is a technical one. A slow page is a page people abandon.

  • Web and mobile applications
  • APIs and third-party integrations
  • Automated tests and documentation
  • Handover and knowledge transfer

Cloud Integration

A finished product has to be online, reachable and backed up. We handle the launch of what we have built: hosting, domain name, certificates, backups.

We do not sell year-round operations. We set up what your product needs to stand on its own, then hand it back documented, on your host or on one we recommend.

  • Launch and domain name
  • Hosting sized for the project
  • Automatic backups and certificates
  • Handover documentation

User testing & QA

We put the product in real people's hands and watch what happens. Moderated or remote testing, task success measurement, functional acceptance before launch.

Each session produces a short, ranked list of fixes. It is often the least comfortable stage of a project, and always the one that pays back most.

  • Test protocols and scenarios
  • Moderated sessions, in person or remote
  • Functional acceptance and a fix cycle
  • Recommendations ranked by impact

How it goes

Three stages, and deliberate back-and-forth.

  1. Understand

Framing, interviews, analysis of what exists. We leave with a written scope and measurable goals, not with a feature list.

  2. Build

Design and development in short cycles. You see something working very early, and at every iteration after that.

  3. Put to the test

Launch, testing with real users, fixes. Then we start again, because a living product is never finished.

What you keep after we leave.

Two people shaking hands in an office at the end of the day.

We say no more often than yes.

An honest quote beats a project that runs away. If your need does not justify the tool you have in mind, we say so before starting, even if it shrinks the engagement.

We work in small numbers, on few projects at a time. It is the only way we know of staying serious.

Who works on your project

A small team, always the same one.

The team gathered around a work table in front of large windows at sunset.

What we learn along the way.
